Back in June(ish) 2016 I decided to build my own website about my life. Fortunately my name as a domain was available and I duly purchased it. I built the site and happily started posting blogs and writing about my life and what I got up to.
It wasn’t a particularly technically site nor an aesthetically pleasing site but it worked and it was a library I could use to store and publish what I was doing.
Then 2 things happened:
- I started to get a lot of hits on the site. People were, and still are, interested in what I write about which surprised me a little.
- I started working for a web developer!
Starting my new job opened my eyes as to what was possible and how much better I could make it. This was my first mistake. There was no way I could make it myself. I simply don’t have the knowledge.
Step in Rob Bates! Rob has been simply brilliant in helping me get this new site up and running. Thank you so much for all your help Rob!
The new site is built on a dedicated WordPress theme and I hope you agree it looks and feels so much better!
The pages are clear, and the navigation is a lot simpler to use. From my side, the back end systems are a little more complicated but so much more flexible in allowing me to develop the site further and it is futureproof!
I have been able to add lots more text. Link company logos for those who have supported me and even add video links to my You Tube channel.
As Sam rightly pointed out to me last night. My website is not a business but she said it was just a “hobby”. To a certain extent she is right. To the outside world it is a hobby. To me writing is a passion.
I really hope you like the new site and please keep coming back for more content!
Until Next Time…
