I need to start by saying sorry that this post is late. I have been trying to write it for a long time and then thought I would leave it until I could get my head around finishing it as it is probably one of the most difficult I have ever written.
Last Tuesday was My Mother in Law’s XX th Birthday. This post is dedicated to my Mother in Law – Gill.
Firstly, Happy Belated Birthday, you possibly won’t ever read this Gill, but I have withheld your age. Your Welcome!
Everyone will be aware of the Mother in law jokes and situations and I can honestly say that my relationship with Gill is not like the standard stereotype.
I am not going to sit here and lie and say we have not had our ups and down’s because we have but our relationship has definitely been far more up than down.
I have been with Sam for 13 years in 2017 and during this time, like Sam, Gill has not had the easiest ride of things. Again I am not going to go into detail about it but anyone who knows us will know the story. I have honestly tried my hardest to help her through the situations and I hope it has been appreciated.
But enough of the negatives and on with the positive thing!
I honestly could not wish for a better Mother in Law. From the day I moved to Yorkshire She has accepted me, rightly questioned me, looked after me and been there for me. She supports us daily with this that are too numerous to mention and she simply has a heart of gold.
This is not about me but I have always tried to do what I can when asked (and when not). Usually when there is a car issue or tele issue I get a phone call. It means a lot to me that she feels she can call on me when needed and for anything!
I will tell you one story about the time she could start her car in Wickersley. Obviously the first call was to me so She told me that she thought the battery was flat. I jumped in my car to at least make sure she got home if the car had to be left. I quickly found her in the car park of the pub, keys in hand saying its broken! I jumped in the driver’s seat, turned the key to see if I knew what could be wrong and BOOM, it started first time!
What more can I say other than this:
Gill,
Thank you for everything you do for Sam and me especially. I love you to bits and will always be here for you when you need me. I hope you are happy Sam has me and know in your heart that I will always look after.
Mark
I wonder if Gill Thinks she had the world’s best Son in Law?
Until Next Time…
