I previously had the original VW Passat CC a few years ago and for one reason or another I had to get rid of it.
When I was in a position to, I always wanted another and when VW face lifted it and rebadged it as just CC I thought they had taken it to a level. It is simply, in my opinion, a stunning looking car in its market. Lets be honest, it’s not as good-looking as an 6 series BMW or a Porsche Panamera but these are in a different league completely. For the money there are none better in my opinion and it certainly does not look out-of-place against the afore-mentioned cars.
Lets start with a few facts. CC stands for comfort coupe and it a 4 or 5 seater (model and year dependant) family saloon which comfortably seats 4 adults with luggage. This one issue is that head room in the rear is limited because of the gorgeous roofline.
The bottom line is that VW have sold over 300,000 of these word wide so far so they must be doing something right!
This by far the best car I have ever owned. Aesthetically the car looks awesome. The curved lines, low roofline and sleek design make it a head turner, especially when it’s polished up.
The light clusters are more that just functional. They look the part as well.
The High Intensity front lights illuminate the entire road and surroundings. Couple this with the side lights that illuminate when turning give you a sense of the attention to detail that has gone into this car.
The rear lights are simply stunning when on. Many manufacturers do so cool things with lights on cars these days but I have not seen many that look as good as these when they are switched on.
Now lets talk about how it drives.
I have read a few reviews that suggest there are a number of other “competitors” that are better to drive, personally I love the way this drives. Mine is the 177 GT model with the simply awesome DSG gearbox.
The car adapts to the way you want to drive it. You can be driving round town, cruising on a motorway or giving it some on back roads and the car responds beautifully. The adaptive Chassis control gives you some set up at your finger tips and you can really feel it firm up in sports mode. Then there is that gearbox!
I have driven a few automatic cars but nothing really compares to this. The change is smooth, kick down responsive and the sports setting revs the engine to give you that little bit more!
All in all this is the best car I have ever owned by a mile but it is not without some niggles. I have been advised to keep the servicing up and let VW do some of the more essential bits. Keep the servicing up on the Brakes and GEarbox too as if that DSG box goes, prepare yourself for a big bill! The only thing to go wrong on this car has been the Sat Nav. for some reason it thinks I am alway in York!
All in all this is a great car. I am sure VW will be face lifting it in the near future so I will keep a look out for that!
Until Next Time…
