In the UK, most of us at some point in our lives have visited a craft fair or craft market. But have you ever done it in the woods?
Visiting the Avalon Market was one of the first things we did after arriving and at the time I remember it feeling like our first introduction “Proper Africa”.
After parking in a field you walk down to woods where you are greeted with wooden walkways between the tree’s and quaint market stalls which I can only describe as Traditionally African. You will see from the pictures what I mean.
There was a vast array of stalls and stands selling everything from crafts, to clothing. From ornaments to furniture & the obligatory food and drink!
I know this is a bit of a short blog , but unless you were there is difficult to explain the feeling of this place. It was also the only time it rained on our trip!
Have a look at their Facebook Page for more information. If you are ever in The Eastern Cape, pay a visit!
