There is so much to say but I must start with saying a huge congratulations to Carrie & Kev on raising over £8000 for Start a Heart at the fun day on Sunday. It was truly a great day (Which I will come on to). Well done as well to all the volunteers who helped throughout the day, especially those who stayed behind to help clear up and load the lorry, twice!
It is always great to see my parents. They live over 150 miles away on Oxford so we try to see each other as much as possible with either us going down or them coming up. They came up this time as Lucy has gone back down for a week and we are off down next weekend to collect her and go to Bunkfest (not sure what that is but I will let you know next weekend!)
Saturday saw me spending some time with my Dad which I don’t get to do very often. He is an Oxford United Fan so our day out involved a trip to Bramall Lane to see Sheffield United vs Oxford United.
Huge thank you to all the guys at Harsco for the tickets in their box. Dad was also cuffed to bits as they sell Carling at Bramall Lane. I am not sure if i have said this before but my Dad is a real technophobe. He can’t even use a toaster but he is completely proficient at using Carlingbeerfinder.com!
I’ll not dwell on this as Sheffield United won having been played off the pitch by Oxford and Rotherham got stuffed at Barnsley 4-0!
Sunday heralded the main event. The Start a Heart 24-7 Fun day. We rocked up to the pub just before 8am to help get things set up.
3 and a half hours later we nip home for a quick Shower and change then back to host the day and try to raise some money for a great cause. It was busy, Really Busy! I am going to pause at this point and just say what a Star Lucy was. Sha manned her Bric-a-Brac stand all day, even haggling with people for more money! She never stopped and all at 11 years old.
Sam and I dotted between stands and raffle ticket duty. The bottom line is that over £8000 was raise which will enable the charity to continue its amazing work in getting Defibrillator’s into the community!
The other thing that came out of the day was catching up with old friends and people we had not seen for a while. We moved house just over a year ago so it was great to see people who used to be our neighbours. After a long 16 hour day we fell into bed about 11.30, absolutely Shattered…. Zzzzzzzz
The Bank holiday Monday was more than welcome. I am not one for a laying in so I was up and about for 8 am. Got both cars filled with fuel and mine washed! Mum & Dad picked up Lucy at around 10 am then Sam spend the day on the Sofa and I literally just pottered around the house all day! Perfect Bank Holiday weekend….
Until Next Time…
