As regular readers will know, I recently visited the Silverstone Classic weekend and saw some amazing Cars.

Or see the video here:
One of the things that stood out a mile was simply the number of Porsche’s there were and the size of the Porsche display area.
For me in semi recent times I have not been a huge fan of them. Recently though my opinion is changing.
Whilst at the Caravan we stumbled on a classic car event taking place. There were some stunning cars there but I was drawn to this classic Porsche 356
I could help but think this var was stunning. With its curves it seemed as a classic, well ahead of its time.
Watching You Tube videos from Mr JWW and his GT3 RS and Shmee150 and his Cayman GT4, along with this trip have really got me interested in them again. No more to me are they just a VW Beetle as Jeremy Clarkson refers to them.
On display at the event were both the new designs and the classic cars. Have a look at some pictures:
As you will see from above, on display was this Porsche 924 GTP LeMans.
This is one of just 3 cars that were built for the 1980 LeMans race. It has a 2l 320HP engine which propelled the team to winning their class and astonishingly 6th overall. As mentioned, 3 cars exist and only one is privately owned ( No 3 I believe). This one and Number 1 are still owned by Porsche.
On from the classic to the modern era and the new 911 in all its various guises.
Firstly there is this 911 GT3 RS. This colour combination is absolutely mad but works. I love the orange with the black detailing. The camera really did not do it justice!
Next we have this 911 Turbo S. Again if I was going to buy on it would be in this colour combination!. if is stunning The Wheels and yellow calipers really off set it, and that rear wing! Jaw dropping gorgeous.
And finally my, somewhat unexpected favourite:
The 911 Targa 4. Wow. I love this car! Just look at it! The modern stance of todays 911 with the rear end of the classic! The gun Metal grey wheels with the red calipers really draw your attention. I am also not a huge fan of Blue Cars but if I could ever afford one, I would have this colour combination!
The roof mechanism is also very cool. I have never driven one of these but can only imagine the sound of that 370 bhp, 3.0L Turbo Charged engine shoving you to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds, and all the way to 178 mph ( on a track of course) with the roof off, would be crazy! I hope one day to have the chance to experience it! Maybe I will email Porsche and ask…….
Until Next Time…
